the oil fields can not.

what a fuckn gem. and from a town known for its poopy.
Big sale on a war!
The concept of war with Iraq isn't selling as well as it did a few months ago, so now we get a special discount. What a great after-Christmas special: War discounted by nearly 70 percent (original estimate of $200 billion; current estimate only $60 billion), and it appears that if we buy now, the Bush administration will throw in a second war with North Korea absolutely free!
John Cahill
Marshalltown.
then we get this. i snatched the language of that resolution and wrote to our own globegazette(.com) and they published it.
well, ... bart.... seems that the 'diversity' you search for can only be found in people who continue to believe the lies and more lies and more lies this administration is attempting to pass off as truth. there is no diversity in truth dear.
Nearly 80 percent of the Grinnell College student body voted to oppose military action in Iraq (letter to the editor, Dec. 30). It sounds to me that the "progressive-thinking" student body could use a little more diversity of thought on campus.
Bart Munson
Grinnell.

ok, its time to tear apart some letters and opinions.

you have got to be kidding, right? i mean, your contention that we have been helping everybody only to listen to them complain, is just ludicrous.. son, the world doesnt hate america. it hates the unliateral bully policy this adminstration has shoved down everybody's throats.

that's one way of expressing how wrong this war is. there's a gazillion more. about the only proveable right thing about this war is the fact that there's a whole lotta texas tea over there.

In fact, speaking of Iraq, perhaps the best real "economic stimulus" would be to eliminate the war talk that's scaring investors in the first place.

the lies the lies the lies. when will it ever end?
UN Officials to Say Iraq Is Not Providing Answers
UN Officials to Say Iraq Is Not Providing Answers
Washington and London say they have intelligence Iraq has such weapons and have threatened war unless Baghdad comes clean. Iraq denies having any nuclear, biological or chemical arms.A fuller report by Blix and ElBaradei on January 27 is widely seen as possible showdown time for war if Iraq fails to satisfy the weapons inspectors. But diplomats say that report may not have any dramatic disclosures either.
The United States and Britain have already said there were holes in Iraq's arms declaration to the United Nations in December, and Washington has gone further in saying the gaps put Baghdad in material breach of U.N. resolutions.
oh get this. i got my forbes yesterday (yes, i'm a tree-killing subscriber, and no i dont own anything they recommend). one of the first pages i turn to had that ever fescent (is that a new word?) caspar weinberger writing about liberalism and it's *cough* decline. as head of the nation's premiere poopyhead rag, i thought it would be as gasping for truth as any good bushie, but this was a stretch of imagination here.
he writes and i quote: no wonder the supporters of Big Government (and that's his caps) fear a decline in liberalism is taking place. if liberalism is indeed losing favor with voters, it is because so many have come to understand that the only thing 'liberalistm' now stands for is enlarging the power and cost of government.
hmmm, that sounds more like what the right-wing poopyheads are doing right now. this man (if he indeed as a penis) has got to be on crack. but then, it izz getting harder to tell the difference between poopyheads and crackheads. i mean, Big Government? he wouldnt know the meaning of big if it got rammed up his ass.
but he nevertheless continues his spew: but then there is yet another reason for the decline in liberalism. security. voters have given the GOP a clear margin over the democrats as the party best suited to preserve our safety and our feedom.
excuse me???? 9/11 didnt happen on a liberal watch my friend. we werent hearing phony terror alerts month after month after month when bill was president. we had money in our 401(k)s when a liberal was in charge. life was good when liberalism shined. what the fuck is he talking about? GOP preserves our safety. the poopyhead lies are getting stinkier and deeper every day. and yet, we have these polls - recently exposed as to be comprised of 50% republican, 20% democrat - that say bush is god.
if bush is god, i'm rootin for lucifer.
*sigh*

ok, fuck the initial caps. fuck the synoptic effort. fuck them all. since this country seems to have sunk into this abyss of catty-ness, read: cuntyness; then lets roll dammit. lets roll.
the idea here is to capture those parts of the reality that is being shoved down our throats with greater expedience than ever, that make life not only unhappy, unbearably boring, and borderline vengeful thinking, this administration has succeeded into making america the bully grande poopah. ever since the election of 2000, where repugs showed up pounding their fists and generally rioting with immunity, denying a complete count of voter's ballots, should have been the largest, brightest and most flappy red flag. a red flag to warn us of trouble ahead. don't they hang the american flag upside down in times of distress? that's what we need. a 100' flag flying upside down on every pole.
i'm a vet. i dont see any justification for sending our troops to iraq. oil in my mind, is not justification. revenge in my mind is not justification. so far, that's the only two things that have been proven as to why we are even bothering with saddam. those nasty critters (WMD) seem to be hiding where nobody can find them. obviously, they're only as mythical as the bush dynasty. or some other greek tragedy.
i'm also very heart broken. its not often my heart gets broken. i'm single you see. always have been, and always will. i just cant see waking up to the same face, other than my own of course, every morning. bah. boring. but my heart has been bleeding profusely recently, and i thought it time to say something about it.

Is life really better?
When Bush decided to make this country better, what exactly did he mean? Did he mean more money in our pockets so that we could buy name-brand food at the grocery store? I mean, those generic brands are ok for a few things, but I don't like whitebox cereal. There's just something about it that makes me think they scraped the bottom of the barrel of corn meal to make those chewy flakes.
Did he mean that he could keep our country out of bankrtuptcy? His whole premise for being seems to revolve around the corporate boardroom door. Trickle-down economics had disasterous effects during the Reagan throne. Make the rich richer, and they'll spend it on the poor. Is that what trickle-down economics is all about? By the time it trickles down to the wider base of need, there's hardly anything left. Where does the middle-class belong in that equation?
Maybe he meant that he could change the tone of Washington, like he so smugly stated over and over and over, til it almost became the theme song of his rallies. Remember, we had a sitting President who beat his father (and we know Junior's position on those who beat his father, don't we Saddam?), won 2 fair elections, was unfazed by the commission out of Arkansas, and *ooops*, committed the heinous act of having sex with another consenting adult. Of course, there was a vast right-wing conspiracy as Senator, then First Lady, Hillary Clinton told 60 Minutes. No other explanation is possible for this incredibly orchestrated attack, which happens to continue two years after President Clinton left office. Some still wear their Blame Bill t-shirts to the office I'll bet. Yet, this Grand Hypocrisy Party has conviently forgotten their own motto during the rigged 2000 election: Get Over It.
